Born on August 27, 1986, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Telles began his professional football journey with Santos in 2005. He made his debut for the club's first team in a Copa Libertadores match against San Lorenzo in February 2006 and quickly established himself as a key player.
Telles' goal-scoring prowess was further demonstrated when he scored 13 times in 23 matches during the 2007–08 season, helping Santos to win their first-ever South American Club Championship. His impressive form earned him the accolade of "Best Player" in the competition that year.

However, Telles' record-breaking stint at Porto came to an end in 2017 after being linked with a move away from the club. Despite interest from several top clubs in Europe, Telles ultimately decided to stay put and continue playing for Porto, where he ended his career by netting 14 goals in 51 games in two seasons before retiring in 2019.
