Cédric Soares, the former manager of Manchester United, has revealed his thoughts on the importance of regular playing time for footballers.
Soares believes that football is not just about winning games but also about developing players and nurturing their talent. He says that he tries to give his players regular playing time so they can learn from each other and develop as individuals.
"Regular playing time helps players to become more confident and better at what they do," Soares said. "It's important for them to feel comfortable in their own skin and be able to take risks and make mistakes."
He added that football should be about creating opportunities for players to improve themselves, rather than just focusing on winning matches. "Football is all about development and growth," Soares said. "We want our players to be able to adapt to different situations and work together to achieve success."
Soares' comments come after he was sacked by Manchester United last month following a poor run of form. The former England international had been one of the most successful managers in European football, guiding Manchester United to two Premier League titles and a Champions League victory in 2016.
However, he admitted that he felt frustrated with the club's approach to football and that he would miss the energy and passion of his team-mates. "I don't have a lot of confidence in how we're going to play tomorrow," he said. "But I'm sure we'll get it right."
